The Sunday Afternoon at Prairie Dunes Blog
Men's Golf: 2014 NCAAs

The Hokies arrived back at Prairie Dunes Country Club about 2:15 p.m., CT, anticipating the start of their third round. It was a quick lunch in the clubhouse, then out to the range for some practice and warm-up.

There is still no word on a tee time for the shotgun start, except for the 40 minutes after the end of round two. An educated guess is around 4:30 p.m. CT, but it’s still too early to know.

With this new format, those teams that are definitely in the top 15 have packed it in for the day. There are some teams squarely on the bubble that are sitting here, waiting. With the individuals’ round now scrapped, that part of the equation is out. As written earlier, Trevor Cone was in the running for one of those spots, but the point is now moot. However, a solid third round performance could put him in the top 40 overall.

If we get started around 4:30 p.m., the chances of finishing on Sunday are, well, slim and none. The Hokies would then come back out for probably a 7 a.m. start time, before the second wave of teams 1-15 would tee off, later that morning. Barring further weather issues, this current plan should work, time wise. But stay tuned.

The Golf Channel, which was originally scheduled to show the individual round on Monday and then the match play on Tuesday and Wednesday, will still televise from here on Monday, but will show the wave of teams 1-15. No Hokies on live Golf Channel this season.

We will update on Twitter @VT_MGolf as soon as we get a start time and will update this blog later tonight. We will also have a video interview with Coach Hardwick, a full recap and hopefully a photo gallery, to boot.
