The horn sounded at 8:30 p.m. CT to suspend the second round due to darkness. Joey Lane and his group had reached the No. 18 tee box, but only one of the three competitors had hit. Lane and his playing partners decided to finish their second round and Lane made a par 4 on the 18th hole. The other players will return to the course at 7 a.m. Sunday morning.
The teams will complete their second round and the afternoon wave from Saturday, which did not start today, will play their complete second round Sunday morning. Then there will be an attempt to complete the third round before darkness. But everything is still up in the air, especially if there are weather issues on Sunday.
We will have an abbreviated write-up on hokiesports.com later tonight and hopefully a video interview with Coach Hardwick, time permitting. But the team needs to get something to eat and get back to the hotel to prepare for what will certainly be an early and long day on Sunday.
Tech is currently in 30th place at the suspension of play on Saturday after struggling in both of Saturday’s rounds. If there are any changes to the schedule, we will tweet them @VT_MGolf.
