The weather forced the Hokies into a long Saturday on the course. Tech finished the first 18 holes of the day at 14-over-par 294, tied for 27th place. After not playing at all on Friday, each player had about 25-30 minutes for a quick bite to eat and back on the course.
The NCAA will try and get as many holes played today as possible, but it is extremely likely that the Hokies will not finish their second round tonight and will be back out here bright and early on Sunday morning to complete Round 2. The guess now is that, barring any more delays, Tech, Illinois and Washington will get 32-28 holes played on the day, but that is very fluid at this point.
As far as the weather goes, it’s getting warm out there. Temperatures are currently in the low 80s, with 55-60 percent humidity. The sun is shining and the winds are not nearly as strong as expected, currently less than 10 mph.
We will try and tweet some on the course this afternoon, but there are some zones without much or any reception out there/ Also, internet access in the media room is spotty, at best, so hang with us. We will have a recap of the day on hokiesports.com, as well as another blog, photo gallery and hopefully, a video at some time tonight.
