The Hokies struggled in the first round today and will have an early start time on Friday morning. Tech finished 13-over 301. There are still some teams on the course, so check back later on hokiesports.com for a complete story.
The day got off to a chilly start, but Tech began the day in decent shape on the front nine, before taking some lumps on the second nine holes. The Hokies concluded the first round with no players par-or-better for the day.
After eating a late lunch, the Hokies are now on the practice range, working on ball striking, which Coach Hardwick believed to be the most important aspect of the game that needed work.
The weather is expected to improve throughout the weekend, as temperatures should approach more seasonal levels. And, most importantly, the rain is expected to stay away.
Later this evening, we will post a video with comments from Coach Hardwick, a photo gallery from today and a complete wrap-up with Tech’ place entering the second round on Friday.
