BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech head men’s basketball coach Buzz Williams has announced the promotion of Lyle Wolf to the position of Director of Basketball Administration.
Wolf is in his second year with the Hokies, as he served last season as the assistant to the head coach. In his new position, Wolf will continue to handle many of the same duties as in the past, but will take on added responsibilities within the program. Wolf will continue to assist Williams and staff in a wide-range of responsibilities, including team travel, scouting, budgeting, camp and the staff’s day-to-day operations.
“Lyle’s character and his work capacity were the reasons for this promotion,” Williams said. “His first day of work as a Hokie corresponds with mine, and he has been an integral part of the foundation we have laid in our first year here. He is more than deserving of this, and my instincts tell me it is just the first of many he will earn in this industry.”
Wolf came to Virginia Tech from Marquette University, where he served as a graduate assistant. In the spring of 2014, Wolf received a masters in Sports Leadership from Marquette University. Before his tenure as graduate assistant at Marquette, the Lexington, Ky., native served as the junior varsity basketball coach at Sayre School, a position he held during the 2011-12 campaign.
A 2010 graduate of Transylvania with a degree in business administration, Wolf was a member of the basketball team at the school in 2006-07.
