Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse Game Notes

Virginia Tech opens the ACC portion of the schedule on Saturday afternoon in Cassell Coliseum, as it hosts Syracuse. The game will tip-off at noon and will be shown on regional sports networks. The band, Rutledge, will perform in the stands of the arena, beginning when the gates open to the fans at 10:30 a.m.

The Hokies enter today’s game 8-5 overall following an 82-51 loss at #17/15 West Virginia on Tuesday afternoon ... Syracuse is 9-4 on the season, following a 61-44 home win over Cornell on Wednesday night ... This is the ACC opener for both teams.

Bibbs is Honored

Freshman guard Justin Bibbs was named the ACC Rookie of the Week, for the week ending Dec. 28, 2014 ... Bibbs scored 20 points to lead the Hokies to the win over VMI and 13 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists in the win over Presbyterian.

van Zegeren Suspended

Virginia Tech announced today that forward Joey van Zegeren has been suspended indefinitely. “Joey failed to meet the expectations we have for our team,” Head Men’s Basketball Coach Buzz Williams said. “He demonstrated a lack of discipline and self-control at practice and as such this suspension was warranted.”
