BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s basketball team made it four straight wins Saturday evening, knocking off Presbyterian College 87-65 in Cassell Coliseum. Freshman Ahmed Hill scored a career-best 18 points in lopsided victory, while the Blue Hose were led by Jordan Downing’s 19 points.

Both teams got out to a slow start in the game, but Devin Wilson got things going with Tech’s first four points, and Joey van Zegeren came off the bench to score six straight points for the Hokies (8-4), including a pair of dunks, to begin creating distance. A 15-5 run by Tech following the first points by van Zegeren got the Hokies out to a double-digit lead for the first time in the game.

Tech led by as many as 18 points late in the first half and was up 45-32 on the Blue Hose (4-9) at the break. Freshman Jalen Hudson continued his impressive play, putting up 10 points in just 11 first-half minutes. He finished the game with a career-best 15 points.

The Hokies continued to roll in the second half never letting the lead return to single digits. The final difference was Tech’s largest lead of the night. It was the second straight game the Hokies saw five players score in double figures. van Zegeren and Justin Bibbs added 13 in the game, while Adam Smith went 4-for-4 from beyond the arc en-route to a 14-point night. Smith also grabbed a career-high seven rebounds.

Markus Terry was the only other Presbyterian player in double figures with 12 points, while William Truss led the team on the boards with 13 rebounds.

The Hokies return to the court Tuesday, Dec. 30 when they travel to West Virginia for a 2 p.m. game.
