Virginia Tech at #25/22 Pittsburgh Game Notes

Virginia Tech concludes this brief two-game road swing with a visit to the Steel City to face the #25/22 Pitt Panthers. The game will be played on-campus in the Petersen Events Center and will tip at noon on regional sports networks.

About Today’s Game

The Hokies are 8-14 on the season and 1-9 in ACC action.

The Panthers are 19-4 overall and 7-3 in the ACC after a 59-55 overtime win at Miami on Wednesday night.

The Panthers are ranked 25th in the AP poll and 22nd in the coaches poll.

The Panthers lead the all-time series, 5-3.

Florida State 70, Virginia Tech 50

The Hokies lost at Florida State, 70-50, in Tallahassee on Wedensday night.

Cadarian Raines came off the bench to lead the Hokies with 13 points and Will Johnston tied a career-high with 12 points off the bench.

Welcome Whit Babcock

On Friday, Jan. 24, Whit Babcock was hired as the new Director of Athletics at Virginia Tech.

Babcock is a 1992 graduate of James Madison University and a native Virginian.

He will begin his duties at Virginia Tech on Feb. 17

Scoring 1,000

Jarell Eddie currently has 1,077 points at Virginia Tech and is 38th in career scoring for the Hokies.

Injury Update

Adam Smith (left calf strain) is out for at least this week and C.J. Barksdale (strained groin) is questionable for today’s game. Marshall Wood (flu) missed the Florida State game but is probable for today’s game

ACC Legend

Bobby Stevens has been named Virginia Tech’s “ACC Legend” for 2014.

The Hokies take the mid-week off before returning to Cassell Coliseum next Saturday to open a three-game home stand against defending ACC champion Miami. The game will tip-off at 6 p.m. and be shown on regional sports networks.
