Virginia Tech vs. No. 2 Syracuse Game Notes

Virginia Tech opens its home ACC schedule on Tuesday night, as they host No. 2 Syracuse. The game, shown on The ACC Network, tips at 9 p.m., in Cassell Coliseum.

About Tonight’s Game

The Hokies are 8-5 on the season and 1-0 in ACC action.

The Orange are 14-0 overall and 1-0 in the ACC after a 49-44 win over Miami on Saturday.

The Orange lead the all-time series, 4-2.

Syracuse is ranked second in both the AP and Coaches polls.

VT 82, UMES 66

The Hokies defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore, 82-66, on New Year’s Eve in Cassell Coliseum.

Jarell Eddie led all scorers with 17 points and Devin Wilson tied a career-high with 16 points.

Ben Emelogu dished out a career-high nine assists.

Rankin Leaves Team

Junior guard Marquis Rankin has decided to leave the team, effective immediately, but will remain at Virginia Tech as a student.

Status Updates

In his weekly Monday press conference, head coach James Johnson announced that Adam Smith is questionable with a left calf strain and both C.J. Barksdale and Marshall Wood are questionable, suffering from the flu.

This weekend, Jan. 9-12, is Alumni Weekend for Virginia Tech Men’s Basketball.

Up Next

Tech will continue its home stand on Saturday, as they host Boston College. Tip-off is at noon and the game will be televised on regional sports networks.
