BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech Hokies open the 2012-13 regular season on Saturday, Nov. 10, as they host the East Tennessee State Bucs.

About Today’s Game

Today is the season-opener for both Virginia Tech and East Tennessee State.

These two teams met in the season-opener last year.

The New Boss

Today marks the head coaching debut of James Johnson.

Johnson took over the Virginia Tech program on May 1, 2012.

He spent five years on the Hokie staff before being named the successor to Seth Greenberg.

Johnson is a 1993 graduate of Ferrum College and has 19 years experience as an assistant coach.

Near a Milestone

Erick Green enters today’s game with 941 career points.

He needs 59 points to become the 43rd person in Virginia Tech history to record 1,000 career points.

No Time for Rest

The Hokies will play two games in the first three days of the season and three in the first five days.

You Can See Them All (Except One)

The Hokies will have all of their home games and all but one of their road games either televised or streamed live over the internet.

Only the game against against Bradley in Las Vegas will not be televised.

Erick Green attended the Chris Paul CP3 Camp during the summer.

Erick Green is third among returning scorers in the ACC this season.

Robert Brown missed 12 weeks during the off-season following surgery on a fractured left foot.

Will Johnston and Joey Racer were named to the 56th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll, recognizing academic excellence by student-athletes during the 2011-12 academic year.
