Tech places four athletes on ACC's First Team

Four Hokies, Tristan McGinley, Paige Petty, Kelly Glatthorn and Meagh Graham were named to the ACC Women’s Lacrosse First Team Wednesday, the first time that Tech has ever placed more than one student-athlete on the First Team in a season. For all four Hokies, it is their first All-Conference selection.

Tech and league champion Boston College were the only schools to place four athletes on the First Team in 2018.

McGinley earns her first All-Conference selection during her senior campaign that has seen her score 41 times, including game winners over Denver and Syracuse in double overtime earlier this month. On the draw circle, McGinley has won 79 draw controls in 2018, vaulting her to third all-time in Virginia Tech history.

A freshman from Bernardsville, N.J., Petty leads the Hokies in scoring with 46 goals. The midfielder also has tallied 55 draw controls and grabbed 22 ground balls on the season. Petty leads the conference in scored during ACC play, scoring 25 times. She scored seven goals on the road versus Louisville to key the Hokies’ come from behind victory and has recorded game winning goals against Notre Dame and Elon.

Glatthorn, a defender, has started every game for the Hokies in 2018, tallying 33 ground balls and 44 draw controls while causing 10 turnovers. The Norristown, Pennsylvania native has also recorded three points, including scoring a goal versus Old Dominion.

Graham is the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Week, earned after her performance against Virginia over the weekend. She came up with 10 saves and four ground balls as the Hokies defeated their in-state rival 16-12 to cement their place amongst the top three teams in the league.

On the season Graham has a .413 save percentage and has been in goal for all 12 Tech victories, setting a program record for single season wins.
