Macera named all-state by VaSID
Defender named to the second team

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia Tech defender Meghan Macera was named to the 2016 Virginia All-State University Division Women’s Lacrosse Second Team as voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).

Macera started all 18 games for the Hokies this season and ranked second on the team with 28 goals while adding four assists. She finished second on the team with 32 total points. She also ranked 14th in the country and second in the ACC in caused turnovers per game at 2.18 and 48th in the nation and third in the ACC in ground balls per game at 2.41. Macera had a team-high 57 draw controls, 39 caused turnovers and 42 ground balls.

This season, Macera scored a hat-trick against then-No. 4 Syracuse with three caused turnovers and four draw controls and scored a career-high five goals then-No. 15 Boston College.

She helped Virginia Tech rank 28th in the nation in caused turnovers per game and 34th in the country in ground balls per game.

Macera finished her career third on the all-time list for career draw controls with 195 and fourth in career ground balls with 129. Her 39 caused turnovers this season was the second-highest season total in Tech history while her 57 draw controls this season were ninth. She graduated from Virginia Tech in May.
