Tech travels to Old Dominion Saturday
Hokies have won five of their last six games

GAME NOTES

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The VIrginia Tech lacrosse team will travel to face Old Dominion on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

THE HOKIES

Virginia Tech is facing Old Dominion for the 10th time in the series with the Hokies holding a 7-2 overall record against the Monarchs. The Hokies beat the Monarchs 17-4 last season in Blacksburg and have won seven straight against ODU.

Tech has won five of its last six games while holding a 2-1 record on the road this season while also being 2-1 against in-state rivals.

The Hokies dominated the first half in their last outing against Radford as they outshot the Highlanders 28-0. Tech led 6-0 less than 10 minutes into the contest and was able to take a 10-0 lead into halftime.

The Hokies continued to build their lead to 12-0 before Radford scored with 19:08 left in the second half. The Hokies would then score four straight goals, two each from Gracee Hendrix and Molly Soulé, to make it 16-1. The two teams would each score one more time before time expired.

Kristine Loscalzo scored a career-high five goals and has now scored nine goals in the last two games for the Hokies. Seven players scored in total for Tech and four players scored at least three goals

Hendrix scored three goals while Tristan McGinley scored three goals and added two assists and two ground balls. Soule scored her first collegiate goals as she added three to go along with an assist.

THE MONARCHS

Old Dominion (2-0) is coming off of a 12-11 victory over Campbell in the home opener last weekend. ODU has also beaten Longwood this season, 14-13.

Connor Carson scored three goals for the Lady Monarchs against Campbell, including the game-winning goal with eight seconds left. Maggi Buckley made 14 saves while Alex Danks had two goals and an assist.

Ashmore Standing leads ODU in scoring with seven points from five goals and two assists. Carson is second with six points.

A total of four Lady Monarchs were named to the preaseason All-Atlantic Sun team. Goalkeeper Maggi Buckley, defender Morgan Gallagher, midfielder Connor Carson and attacker Ashmore Standing were the four to earn All-A-Sun honors. As a team, ODU was selected to finish second behind reigning champ Jacksonville.

A total of five players return for ODU who were named all-conference in 2015. Connor Carson, Morgan Gallagher and Ashmore Standing were named first team All-A-Sun, while Jessi DeLuca and Cydney Tutchton were named to the All-Rookie team. Carson and Standing were also named to the All-Tournament team.
