CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team concluded its 2014 season Thursday afternoon as it fell 14-9 to the top-seeded Maryland Terrapins at Alumni Stadium on the Boston College campus. Junior Megan Will led the Hokie offense for the 11^th time this season as she notched her fourth straight hat trick. Halle Majorana paced the Terps with four goals on the day.

The Hokies (8-10) won the opening draw but were unable to capitalize on the possession as a free position by Will was denied and Maryland (17-1) sent the ball downfield to score on a free position opportunity of its own.

The Terps went on to add five more goals from five different players in the first 12 minutes of the game, but Julia Heaps put a stop to the scoring spell when she worked back middle for a close-up goal after Will dropped the ball to her on the left side. Jack Boissonneault added another goal for Tech just over a minute later when she attacked the right side and fired in a shot.

Taylor Cummings put away her second goal of the day for the Terps when she sent a free position attempt past Tech goalie Meagh Graham. Heaps tried to get things going again for the Hokies and she found Kelly Naslonski from the right side of the goal.

Maryland added another score before Will was able to connect for the first time in the game. She attacked the left side for the goal and quickly went back-to-back as it was Heaps again on the feed from the right and Will had an open one-on-one with the goalie.

The Terps tacked on two more scores before the half and began the new period with three straight, until Boissonneault struck again after working her way through the Maryland defense from the right side.

Tech put away the final three goals of the game in the last ten minutes of play, but both early Maryland runs had the game out of reach.

The Hokies were outshot 30-20 in the game, but took the edge on draws 14-11 much in part to a career-high 10 from Meg Bartley, who set a new program single-season record with 90 draws on the year. While forcing the Terps into 15 turnovers, the Hokies hurt themselves as they committed a season-high 20 in the game.

Graham logged the full 60 minutes in cage and made nine saves, also grabbing six ground balls. Abbey Clipp also played the full game in goal for Maryland and finished with seven stops.
