Tech adds 10 in 2013 signing
Lacrosse welcomes 10 newcomers
BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech lacrosse team and head coach Megan Burker have announced the signing for 10 newcomers for the 2014 season. Alex Cozza, Maddie Doan, Tara Feehan, Meagh Graham, Kristine Loscalzo, Haley Lukefahr, Ellie Matthews, Colleen Ward, Sammi Wilson and Maddy Wollmuth have all signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Hokies for the 2013-14 academic year.

Cozza joins the Hokies after winning three letters at Oakland Catholic High School. As a junior, the Carnegie, Pa., native earned WPIAL First Team All-Section and Division I All-Star honors as a junior. Cozza, who was selected to compete for the Western PA team at the US Lax national tournament, has played three years of club ball for Intrepid Elite.

Doan hails from Ashton, Md., and has won four letters at Sherwood High School. After serving as team captain her junior year, Doan earned Second Team All-Gazette honors and was named to the National Tournament team.

Feehan will enter her senior season this spring, having already won three letters at North Shore High School. The Glen Head, N.Y., native has been named a Scholar Athlete in each of the past three years and earned all-conference honors as a junior. Already named a senior captain, Feehan has helped her team to Nassau County championships in each of the past two seasons.

Graham will add depth for the Hokies in the cage after winning her third varsity letter at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. The Kensington, Md., native earned High School All-America First Team honors as a junior, as well as honorable mention All-Metropolitan and First Team All-Montgomery Country accolades in 2012 and 2011.

Loscalzo will enter her final season at Rocky Point High School this spring. The Miller Place, N.Y., native led her team in scoring as a junior and was named team MVP. In 2012, Loscalzo earned All-County, Academic All-America and Scholar Athlete honors. She has spent the past four years playing club ball for 91 Lacrosse.

Lukefahr joins the Hokies from Corning-Painted Post East High School. The middie from Corning, N.Y., has already won three letters, while helping her team to Section IV championships and the NY State Regional every year. In each of the past two seasons, Lukefahr has earned Section IV All-Conference First team and All-Leader honors.

Matthews, a Clarksville, Md., native has earned three letters at Atholton High School. The middie earned Second Team All-County honors as a junior, as well as the Coach’s Award. She was also named to the Baltimore Sun watch list every season. A three-year member of the M&D club team, Matthews helped her team to a Maryland Club Championship.

Ward will enter her senior season at Arendel High School after being named a team captain as a junior. Ward, a two-time All-County Capital second team honoree, while was named one of the top 40 players in the Baltimore area as a junior. Ward, a native of Odenton, Md., has played club ball for CCLAX for seven years and was a national draw finalist in 2011.

Wilson, like Graham, will enter her final season at Our Lady of Good Counsel this spring after already winning three letters. The defender has been named to the WDNT DC Metro first team in each of the past two seasons, while also earning WCAC and All-Gazette first team honors.

Wollmuth is the fourth and final New Yorker of the class, hailing from Stony Brook, N.Y. Wollmuth will earn her fourth letter at Ward Melville High School, also attended by current Hokie Kelly Naslonski. The middie was named an Academic All-American, after helping her team to a Division I League Championship in 2012.
