BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team and head coach Megan Burker have announced the addition of eight newcomers to the 2012 roster, including seven freshmen and one transfer. Caroline Boucher, Cawley Bromley, Rachel Skay, Megan Will, Maddy Hess, Jaqueline Boissonneault and Ann Wallace Tazewell make up the class of 2015, while Rachel Sweeney will also join the squad after spending two years at Presbyterian College.

Boucher joins the Hokies after playing three years of varsity lacrosse at Torrey Pines High School. A two-time First Team All-CIF and All-League honoree, Boucher served as team captain in her senior season. The San Diego, Calif., native was unable to finish her senior season due to injury but led her high school two Section CIF championships as a member of the midfield. Boucher played club ball for the West Coast Starz.

Bromley was a four-year starter on attack at Apex High school, while helping her team to three state championships. She was named State Championship MVP twice in her career and also earned 2010 Conference Player of the Year accolades as a junior. A four-time First Team All-Conference and two-time All-State honoree, the Cary, N.C., native also garnered Honorable Mention All-America accolades as a senior. Bromley was also a four-year member of the Carolina Fever club team.

Skay hails from North Bethesda, Md., and played four years of varsity lacrosse at Walter Johnson High School. As a midfielder, Skay earned First Team All-Division and All-County honors three times throughout her career and was named team MVP twice. She was a four-year Scholar Athlete, while also serving as team captain as a senior. Skay played her club ball for Capital Lacrosse Club.

Will joins the Hokies after playing four years on attack at C. Milton Wright High School. Will helped her team to two regional championships, as well as the state finals her junior year. The Bel Air, Md., native was a two-time First Team All-County honoree, while earning C. Milton Wright High School Athlete of the Year honors as a senior. Will spent four years as a member of the NEMS club squad.

Hess, a native of Lancaster, Pa., comes to Tech after serving as a starting midfielder for three seasons at Penn Manor High School. As a senior captain, Hess was named an All-American. She helped her team to a LL League championship in 2009, also earning All-Section and All-League honors in 2010 and 2011. Hess played club lacrosse for X-treme for two years.

Boissonneault arrives at Tech from Ajax, Ontario, Canada. She played midfield for her high school, Donald A. Wilson, where she was named Athlete of the Year in 2008 as well as 2011. Boissonneault also played for the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights, a team that she helped to six provincial championships.

Tazewell, a Richmond, Va., native, was a three-year starter on defense at Collegiate High School. She won the Sportsmanship Award, while also being named to the All-LIS team. Tazewell was also a defender for the Geromino Lacrosse club team.

Sweeney will be entering her junior year at Tech after transferring from Presbyterian College this summer. The Waxhaw, N.C., native made 27 starts as a member of the PC squad and scored four goals, while scooping up 14 ground balls and causing seven turnovers as a sophomore. Sweeney was one of the top 50 players in North Carolina coming out of high school and earned All-State honors while playing midfield at Marvin Ridge High School. Sweeney also played for the Queen City Stars club team, as well as the Lower Atlantic Nationals team.
