Terrell Edmunds named ACC Defensive Back of the Week

BLACKSBURG – Following a strong performance in Virginia Tech’s 24-3 victory over Duke on Saturday night, redshirt junior S Terrell Edmunds has been named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Edmunds racked up eight tackles, a quarterback hurry and an interception in the win. Edmunds’ eight tackles were the second most on the team behind his brother, Tremaine. This is Edmunds’ second career ACC weekly honor.

After Tech’s first scoring drive of the game, Edmunds intercepted a pass and returned it 15 yards on the first play of Duke’s ensuing possession. On special teams, Edmunds downed a punt by P Oscar Bradburn at Duke’s own two-yard line.

The Hokies’ defense, anchored by Edmunds at the safety position, ranks second in the nation in scoring average at 11.5 points per game and haven’t allowed more than 10 points since Sept. 30, a streak of three straight games.

Edmunds and the No. 13 Hokies turn their attention to No. 9 Miami and a primetime matchup with the Hurricanes on Saturday, Nov. 4, that can be seen nationally on ABC at 8 p.m.

The Hokies return to Lane Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 18, for a Costal Division matchup against the Pitt. Tickets can be purchased by clicking on the link at the top of the page.
