Stroman racked up 116 yards on four punt returns and registered a 91-yard punt return touchdown. With the Hokies leading 7-0 in the first quarter, Stroman made it 14-0 on a 91-yard punt return, the third longest return in program history and second longest in Lane Stadium history. His 116 punt return yards ranks eighth in a single game at Virginia Tech since at least 1987.
The Bristow, Virginia native leads the ACC with two punt return touchdowns and ranks second with 13.9 yards per return. He’s now tied for second in Tech history with four punt return TDs and ranks second in both career punt return yards (1,017) and punt returns (114).
R-junior defensive tackle Ricky Walker registered four tackles, 1.5 sacks and a 12-yard fumble return touchdown in the win over the Tar Heels. Walker’s scoop and score marked his first career touchdown and the first of three non-offensive touchdowns on the day the Hokies.
Walker’s 1.5 sacks set a new career high. His solo sack came on a second and 24 from UNC’s own 16-yard line early in the first quarter, dropping the quarterback for a six-yard loss.
Sophomore defensive back Reggie Floyd had seven tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss and a 69-yard interception return touchdown in Virginia Tech’s 59-7 win over North Carolina. Floyd’s 69-yard pick six is the second-longest interception return in the ACC this season and the longest by a Virginia Tech player since at least 2010. Four of his seven tackles were solo stops.
Stroman, Walker, Floyd and the rest of the No. 13 Hokies return to Lane Stadium this Saturday, Oct. 28, for a 7:20 kickoff against Duke. Tickets can be purchased by clicking the link at the top of the story.
