NFL Hokies ready for big games in Week Five
QB Tyrod Taylor and the Bills are looking to separate from the rest of AFC East

Sunday, Oct. 8
Buffalo at Cincinnati – 1 p.m.
QB Tyrod Taylor, TE Logan Thomas and the Buffalo Bills travel to Cincinnati to face the Bengals. Taylor has started strong, leading the Bills to 3-1 record and first place in the AFC East. Taylor completed 12 of 20 passes for 182 yards one touchdown and carried the ball seven times for 13 yards last week against the defending NFC Champion Falcons. Taylor will square off with one of Justin Fuente’s former pupils in Bengals QB Andy Dalton, who played collegiately at TCU. Cincinnati is 1-3, but is coming off a 31-7 win over Cleveland.

Monday, Oct. 9
Minnesota at Chicago – 8:30 p.m.
CB Kyle Fuller and the Chicago Bears host NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. Fuller recorded five tackles in last week’s loss to the Packers. He is also second on the team in total tackles with 20.
Other Sunday Games with Virginia Tech Ties
Arizona at Philadelphia – 1 p.m.
Head coach Bruce Arians, T Vinston Painter and the Arizona Cardinals face the Philadelphia Eagles and their No. 3 total offense. The Cardinals are coming off a win against the 49ers while the Eagles are on a two game winning streak after defeating the Chargers. Tech Alum Nick Rapone serves as the defensive backs coach for the Cardinals’ staff while alums Eugene Chung and Keith Gray are both on the Eagles’ staff.
Baltimore at Oakland – 4:05 p.m.
S Chuck Clark and the Baltimore Ravens travel out West to take on the Oakland Raiders. Both the Ravens and the Raiders are coming off two game losing streaks. Clark registered one tackle in last week’s loss to the Steelers. TE Ryan Malleck is on the Ravens practice squad.
Seattle at L.A. Rams – 4:05 p.m.
S Kam Chancellor and the Seattle Seahawks face NFC West division rival L.A. Rams. The Rams currently hold first place in the division but a loss would allow the Seahawks to swap places in the NFC West. Chancellor tallied five tackles in last week’s win against the Colts. Former Hokies’ S Nick Sorenson serves as the secondary coach for the Seahawks. FB Sam Rogers is on the Rams’ practice squad.
Carolina at Detroit – 1 p.m.
The Carolina Panthers and their No. 4 defense take on the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. The Panthers and the Lions are coming off wins and hope their momentum will carry over into Sunday. TE Bucky Hodges is a member of the Panthers practice squad.
Tennessee at Miami – 1 p.m.
The Tennessee Titans travel to Miami to play the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins and the Titans are looking to get a win after both teams lost their previous matchups. WR Isaiah Ford is still on IR after suffering an injury during the preseason.
Kansas City at Houston – 8:30 p.m.
The Kansas City Chiefs look to continue their four-game winning streak as they seek to remain the NFL’s only undefeated team when they face the Houston Texans. The Chiefs remain the only unbeaten team in the NFL. LB Dadi Nicolas is still on the PUP list after suffering a ruptured patella tendon in week 17 of the 2016 season.
