Safety Deon Newsome awarded honorary Beamer No. 25 vs. ODU

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech redshirt senior safety Deon Newsome has earned the distinction of wearing Frank Beamer’s No. 25 for the Hokies’ game against Old Dominion at Lane Stadium.

Saturday’s game will mark the first time the Hampton, Virginia native has received this prestigious honor. Newsome appeared in 12 games for the Hokies in 2016 and all three games this season. He will play in his 34th career game for Tech on Saturday at Lane Stadium. Tech is currently ranked No. 13 in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll. The Hokies are coming off a dominating 64-17 win against East Carolina.
