Settle, who checked in at 335 pounds entering fall camp, appeared in all 14 games last year for the Hokies. He made 17 tackles, seven for loss, and blocked a field goal attempt against East Carolina. The Manassas, Va., native also returned two kickoffs for 15 yards, including a nine-yard return at Notre Dame.
This year, three finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony scheduled to take place on Friday, Dec. 8, in New York City. Piesman voters include media members from outlets like ESPN, Bleacher Report, USA Today, CBS, the AP, Sports Illustrated and The Ringer. College football fans have a voice too, via an online ballot made available later in the season.
