BLACKSBURG – ESPN and Marvel Comics revealed six college football kickoff weekend comic book covers on Monday, including one for Virginia Tech’s season opener against West Virginia at FedExField on Sept. 3.
The artist for the Tech-WVU cover, Jose Luis, paid homage to John Romita and his artwork for issue No. 10 in volume one of “The Defenders”. Ohio State-Indiana, Michigan-Florida, Florida State-Alabama, BYU-LSU and Tennessee-Georgia Tech also received custom covers by Marvel.
This is the fourth year in a row that ESPN and Marvel have collaborated on custom comic book covers celebrating the arrival of the college football season.
