The Virginia Tech football team will return home for a non-conference game with the Falcons of Bowling Green at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. Kick-off is set for 12:01 p.m. on Saturday and the game will be televised on ESPNU. The announcers will be Tom Hart and John Congemi.

The Series
• Saturday’s game will be the third football meeting between Virginia Tech and Bowling Green. Tech holds a 2-0 lead in the series, but the two teams haven’t met since 1993.
• The schools met for the first time in football in 1990 when the Hokies downed the Falcons 21-7 at Lane Stadium and again in 1993 when Tech won 33-16 win at Lane Stadium.

Military Appreciation Day
• The Tech football team will raise money to support Wounded Warrior Project through the sale of camouflage Virginia Tech hats and wristbands. The Hokies will also wear camo helmets for the first time in school history.
• A member of the Corps of Cadets will carry a commemorative flag during the team’s entrance in honor of Deriek Crouse, the fallen VT police officer who was killed on campus last December. Officer Crouse was a U.S. Army Veteran and his family will be in attendance. Additionally, Army specialist Chris Dooley will be honored as part of Wounded Warrior project. Dooley grew up in Troutville and was part of the initial invasion of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
• There are two flyovers for this game, one pregame: a WWII B-25, and one at halftime: a P-51 Mustang.
• In the pregame, as part of the HT’s on-field performance, the Alumni Association will reward Col. Wes Fox an honorary lifetime membership in the Association for his long service to Virginia Tech. He retired as the Deputy Commandant of the Cadets at Virginia Tech in 2001 and is one of 81 living recipients of the Medal of Honor.

Strong in September
• Tech has a 66-11 mark in September dating back to the start of its bowl streak in the 1993 season, including a 27-6 mark over the past six-plus seasons (2005-2012).
