CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Atlantic Coast Conference kicks off the 2014 Fall Championship schedule on Friday, October 31, with the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships held at the Panorama Farms Cross Country Course in Charlottesville, Virginia. The women’s 6k race will start at 10 a.m., followed by the men’s 8k competition at 10:45 a.m.

The Hokie women head into the competition receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA Poll. Last time out, The Hokie women came in second place behind No. 21 Villanova thanks to Sarah Rapp, who finished first overall in the women’s 6K race with a time of 21:11. Paige Kvartunas was just behind her with a time of 21:23, good for a fourth-place finish.

The men also enter the meet receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA Poll. Robertson finished just one second behind Penn’s Thomas Awad, earning the second-place finish with a personal-best time of 24:01 in the men’s 8K race. The next finisher for Tech was Darren Barlow, whose personal best of 24:19 was good enough for a sixth-place finish overall.

Last year at the ACC Championships, the men finished in fifth place behind a second-place individual finish from Thomas Curtin. The women posted an eighth-place finish behind 11th and 13th place-finishes from Courtney Dobbs and Sarah Rapp, respectively.

The event will be broadcasted live on ESPN3.

The ACC Championships serve as potential points in the Virginia529 Commonwealth Clash, the new point rivalry series between University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.
