Boston, Mass. -- Tech continued its season, heading north to Boston, Mass. for the 2010 ACC Cross Country Championships. The men’s squad placed seventh with 242 points and the women placed eighth with 207. Florida State won both the women’s and the men’s competitions.
Chris Walizer was Tech’s highest finisher in the men’s 8k (44th, 25:07.0). Just over ten seconds later, the Hokies’ Jason Cusack crossed the line (54th, 25:20.02), followed closely by Doug Fenstermacher (57th, 25:25.1) and Eddie Judge (58th, 25:28.0) finishing back-to-back.
Sammy Dow earned Tech’s highest finish in the women’s 6k, placing 32nd at 21:23.8, less than a second behind the 31st-place runner. Paige Kvartunas was next, coming in at 21:27.4 to place 36th. Courtney Dobbs came in with the next pack of runners (41st, 21:36.2) with Madalyn Nuckols following suit (50th, 21:58.0).
The Hokies will have one final competition before regionals, hosting the Hokie Open Race on Friday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. at Tech Cross Country Course.
