Facing Clemson: In their history, the Hokies are 24-41-2 all-time against the Clemson Tigers, but our just 5-22 against them since joining the ACC and are winless in their last 17 games at Clemson. The Hokies last win at Clemson was March 17, 1984, a 7-3 victory.
However, Tech did win its last game against the Tigers on March 22, 2015, a 4-3 victory in 12 innings - Rahiem Cooper with the game-winning RBI. In that last series, two games were decided in extras, with Clemson winning the Friday night game, 4-0, in 10 frames.

Tech back in front, leading the nation in home runs: The Hokies and Wake Forest have been battling back and forth the past month for the nation’s lead in home runs. With its eight hit last week, including Ryan Tufts solo shot on Wednesday night, Tech stayed in front of the Demon Deacons and lead the country with 57 home runs hit - Wake Forest enters the weekend with 55. Sitting in third is Mercer (52), while Tennessee Tech is fourth with 49.
Since the Hokies have been a member of the ACC (since 2005), Tech has surpassed 40 home runs hit in a season now six times and 50 just three times. They just passed the 2013 squad for the third most hit in an ACC season, who hit 55 and next up is the 2011 team, who hit 60. The most home runs hit by the Hokies in an ACC season is 81 back in 2010.

Home run totals a team effort: The 2010 team is the last squad to have at least five Hokies hit more than five home runs. The 2017 squad currently has six members with at least five long balls led by Sam Fragale’s 12, while Ryan Tufts, Joe Freiday, Jr. and Rahiem Cooper have seven each. Mac Caples has hit six and Tom Stoffel hit his fifth last weekend. Nick Anderson and JD Mundy each have four.
Back in 2010, eight Hokies hit at least five, led by Steve Domecus and Buddy Sosnoskie, who each hit 13 to lead the team. Austin Wates and Ronnie Shaban both had eight, Tim Smalling and Michael Seaborn both hit seven and Andrew Rash added six. Anthony Sosnoskie ended the year with five.
