Career Highlights: Became Tech’s first participant in the TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby … Was the Hokies’ fifth player ever named ACC Player of the Week and became first Tech field player to earn honor twice … Became Tech’s second player ever named All-ACC First Team … Had 17 career game-winning RBIs and 11 career game-winning runs scored … The RBIs include a walk-off solo home run versus Yale on March 4, 2011, a bases loaded walk-off hit-by-pitch versus Cornell on March 21, 2011 and a 10th-inning two-RBI double in a win at Miami on March 24, 2013 … The runs include a walk-off game-winning run against Iowa on February 26, 2011 and scoring on a passed ball in the 10th frame in a win at Duke on April 30, 2011 … Had four career multi-home run games, including two in ACC contests … In 2011, became first Hokie since 1996 (Kevin Barker) with more than 14 home runs in a single season and finished career sixth all-time in home runs with 42, the most by a Hokie since Mike Conte (1986-89) … Also tied Sean O’Brien (2004-08) for the fifth-most doubles in a career at the school.

2013: Started all 61 games played – 35 in center, 14 in right, and four each in left, as DH and at third … Was fourth on the team with 21 multi-hit games, including a team-high eight games with three hits and one with four, tied for the team lead with 15 multi-RBI games and had five multi-run scoring games … Had a 13-game reached base streak … Batted .315 (fourth on the team) with 75 hits (fourth), including 22 doubles (second), two triple and a team-high tying 11 home runs for 134 total bases (second) and a .563 slugging percentage (second) … Scored 37 runs and knocked in a team-high 62 runs … Drew 12 walks, was hit by nine pitches (tied for third) and had a .368 on-base percentage (fourth) … Was 5-for-8 on stolen base attempts … Also, tied for the team lead with three outfield assists, pushing career total to six … In the NCAA, was 18th in doubles, 38th in doubles per game (0.36), 47th in home runs, 67th in home runs per game (0.18), 24th in RBIs, 31st in RBIs per game (1.02), 79th in slugging and 42nd in total bases … In the ACC, was tied for fifth in home runs, fourth in doubles, tied for fifth in RBIs, seventh in total bases and seventh in slugging … In ACC-only games, was 14th in batting, sixth in hits (40), first in doubles (13), fifth in home runs (5), fourth in RBIs (31), second in total bases (73) and fifth in slugging (.619).

2012: Made 49 starts – 47 in center and two in left … Posted 14 multi-hit games, including two games with three hits … Also had 10 multi-run games (third on the team) and seven multi-RBI games … Batted .273 with 51 hits, including 11 doubles (fourth), one triple and seven home runs (tied for second) for 85 total bases (fourth) and a .455 slugging percentage (fourth) … Scored 38 runs (second) and drove in 34 (tied for third), which included two walk-off game-winning RBIs … Drew nine walks and was hit by a pitch nine times (tied for third) for a .335 on-base percentage … Was 7-for-9 on stolen base attempts.

2011: Played and started in 51 games – 46 in left and five as designated hitter… Posted 19 multi-hit games, including seven games with three hits … Also had 10 multi-run games, three with three and one with four, and a team-high 16 multi-RBI games, including three games with four … Had a nine-game hitting streak and reached base in 16 straight … Batted .335 (first on team) with 64 hits (fourth), including 17 doubles (second) and 18 home runs (first) for 135 total bases (first) and a .707 slugging percentage (first) … Scored 49 runs (second) and drove in 53 (first) … Drew 18 walks (third), was hit by 10 pitches (first) for a .416 on-base percentage (first) and was 4-of-7 on stolen base attempts … Finished 11th in the ACC in batting, first in home runs and slugging percentage, third in total bases and tied for ninth in RBIs … Was 86th in the nation in runs per game (0.96), 128th in doubles per game (0.33), sixth in home runs per game (0.35), 46th in RBIs per game (1.04), 11th in slugging percentage and 56th in total bases.

2010: Started 20 games – 10 as designated hitter, eight in left and two in right – and saw action in 39 total games … Had nine multi-hit games, including two with three hits … Also three multi-run games and four multi-RBI games, including a four-RBI effort … Had a five-game hitting streak and reached base in eight straight … Batted .344 with 31 hits, including six doubles, a triple, and six home runs for 57 total bases and a .633 slugging percentage … Scored 18 runs and drove in 16 … Drew five walks and was hit by three pitches for a .394 on-base percentage … Also had four pinch hits during the season.

2009: Redshirted the season.

High School: Earned all-area, all-region and all-state team honors on multiple occasions for Coach Barry New at Westside High … Played in the North-South All-Star game and was named the team’s MVP after a senior season in which he batted .420 with seven doubles, 32 runs batted in, 30 intentional walks and a school-record 10 home runs … Prior to his senior season, was ranked as the No. 1 catcher in 4A by Diamond Prospects and had tallied a .487 average with 14 home runs, 12 triples, 48 doubles and 94 runs batted in.
