Career Highlights: In 2013, became first Tech starting pitcher to win his first five starts since Brad Clontz in 1992, and also won first two ACC starts, being only the second Hokie (Rhett Ballard (2007) … Won a total of 11 games in 2013, tying for the second most ever in a single season at the school and the most since Jason Bush in 1999 … Won his last six decisions … Won five games in ACC, the third Hokie pitcher (Justin Wright, 2009 and Mathew Price, 2010) to accomplish it … Tossed 91 career scoreless innings, 37 were perfect frames … Struck out the side once, posted a career-high 10.2 straight scoreless innings pitched and at one point, retired a career-high 13 straight batters.
2013: Started a team-high tying 15 games and appeared in 16 total … Led the team with 11 wins, lost just three, combined on one shutout and threw a team-high tying two complete games … Posted a 3.11 ERA in a team-high 104.1 innings pitched and struck out 50 batters (third) … Opponents batted just .248 against him … Registered a team-high 10 quality starts and tied for the team-lead with 11 games of at least six innings pitched … Went at least seven a team-high eight times … Struck out at least two batters in nine appearances and more than five four times … In the NCAA, was 15th in wins … In the ACC, was 16th in ERA, tied for second in wins, fifth in innings pitched and tied for third in complete games … In ACC-only games, was sixth in innings pitched (64.1).
2012: Appeared in 12 games overall and made three starts … Posted a 0-1 record and combined on one shutout with a 4.12 ERA … Threw a total of 24.0 innings and struck out 17 batters … Pitched at least 1.0 innings in every appearance and did not allow an earned run in seven of those … Struck out at least two in five games.
2011: Sat out season due to NCAA transfer rules.
2010 (at Duke): Appeared in 11 games and made three starts for the Blue Devils … Posted a 3-1 record with an 8.13 ERA … Threw 27.2 innings and struck out 17 batters … Did not allow an earned run over his last six innings pitched.
High School: Was a three-year letter winner for Coach Mike Scott at Darien High ... Posted a 1.75 ERA with 104 strikeouts in 64 innings as a senior ... Allowed just 18 walks ... Threw one no-hitter and five one-hitters ... Also batted .449 with two home runs, four triples and drove in 23 ... Slugged .859 with a .546 on base percentage ... Named MVP of the Connecticut High School All-Star Team as a senior ... Also, named All-FCIAC East First Team as a junior and senior … As a junior, struck out 88 over 58 innings with just 31 walks and a 1.31 ERA ...
