MISSION STATEMENT

The Office of Student-Athlete Development is

committed to ensuring a first-class student-

athlete experience. With a holistic focus on

leadership development, career development and a

commitment to community outreach, Virginia Tech

student-athletes are provided with a foundation for

success at the university level and beyond.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

We believe we’ve been afforded a tremendous

opportunity to assist Virginia Tech student-athletes

in their growth as leaders. Our intent is to help

student-athletes identify ways they can thrive as

leaders, students and competitors.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

The Office of Student-Athlete Development is

committed to educating student-athletes on the

proficiencies and strategies necessary to develop

career success during their time at Virginia Tech

and beyond. The office collaborates with Virginia

Tech Career Services in order to enhance career

development skills and opportunities.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

With the university motto, Ut Prosim, (That I May

Serve) at our core, the Office of Student-Athlete

Development assists student-athletes in taking

advantage of the many opportunities to volunteer

throughout their college experience. Teams partner

with national and local community organizations

and volunteer their time at community-wide events.

Since 2011, Hokie student-athletes have traveled to Veron, Dominican Republic

through their enrollment in LDRS 1016: Global Citizen Leadership. During their

time in Veron, student-athletes also host a five-day sports camp focused on

HIV/Aids education and partner with local NGOs and nonprofits along the way.
