A major focus of the Virginia Tech athletics department’s
philosophy and vision for the Virginia Tech men’s basketball
team is an increased presence in the campus, town, New
River Valley and state communities. Hokies are involved in
a wide range of events and causes that are important to the
Hokie Nation.
A major component of this involvement is the team’s
contributions to Buzz’s Bunch, the foundation that Buzz
Williams brought with him to benefit the community.
Hokie fans see basketball players involved in schools and
youth groups, participating in charitable ventures and giving
back to the community that has given so much to them.
Another major focus with this team is supporting groups on
the Virginia Tech campus, whether it is participating in pep
rallies, lending a hand to fellow students in need or cheering
on other teams in their events.
Tech strives to produce well-rounded individuals and
involvement in the community is just one phase of that
development that is important to the Hokies.
