THE HOKIES (10-18, 1-14 ACC)
Virginia Tech fell the last time out to Virginia. Vanessa Panousis tallied 17 points for the Hokies while Sidney Cook had 10 points. Taijah Campbell added nine points and had four steals. Hannah Young led on the boards with seven rebounds and recorded a pair of blocks.
The first half was back-and-forth between the teams, but Tech used a 7-0 run to close out the half and take a 31-28 lead into the break. UVA opened the second half with a 10-2 run to take the lead, but Tech kept it close and closed it to a three point difference following nine straight points from Panousis, cutting it to 58-55 with just over four minutes to go. The Cavaliers connected on 9-of-10 from the free throw line in the final minutes to hold on for the win.
Panousis leads the Hokies on the season in scoring with 13.3 points per game and handing out 3.2 assists per game. The sophomore guard is third on the ACC list for three-pointers made, averaging 2.4 per game. Rachel Camp is chipping in 12.2 ppg. In addition Camp’s 6.1 rpg is good for 20th in the league. Campbell leads the team with 6.9 rebounds (14th most in the league) while adding 7.9 ppg.
THE EAGLES (12-16, 4-11 ACC)
Boston College dropped a 77-60 decision at No. 9/8 Louisville in the team’s last game. Nicole Boudreau led the Eagles with 12 points. Ashley Kelsick and Emilee Daley added 10 points each. Kelly Hughes grabbed eight rebounds.
Louisville used a 22-9 run in the opening 10 minutes, but BC cut it to 10 later in the half. The Eagles trailed 46-31 at the half. Coming out of the break, BC cut it to eight off back-to-back threes. That is as close as it would get as Louisville used a pair of runs to pull ahead by 20.
Hughes leads the Eagles in both scoring and rebounding with 14.9 ppg and 7.1 rpg. She has tallied 76 three pointers this season and is second in the league with 2.8 per game. The Eagles lead the league as a team, averaging 8.5 threes per game. Boudreau is adding 11.8 ppg while Daley is chipping in 8.8 and Kelsick with 8.5.

Tech won the last meeting, a 70-63 overtime decision last season in Blacksburg. Panousis had 18 points for the Hokies while Young recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Hughes had 22 for BC.
BC won last year in Chestnut Hill, 70-63. Former Tech player Uju Ugoka had 23 for the Hokies. Boudreau tallied 16 for the Eagles.
