The mission of the Hokie Hardwood Club is to increase public awareness of the Virginia Tech women’s basketball program, to raise the level of community support for all aspects of the program and to provide the level of spirit and resources required for a program of national prominence. The club conducts fundraisers during the year in support of the women’s basketball program. Fundraising efforts helped with some of the team’s expenses on its summer trip to Europe in 2000, as well as the trip to Australia in the summer of 2004, the 2008 trip to Greece and Italy, and the 2014 trip to Italy. Members of the Hokie Hardwood Club travel to several away games each season. With the help of the Hardwood Club, the women’s basketball team traveled to Italy in 2014. The Hokie Hardwood Club sponsors an annual auction in the winter to raise money to help support the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team. The Hokie Hardwood Club enjoys several social events with the team throughout the year, including the annual Welcome Back Dessert Social.
