The Virginia Tech volleyball team plays and practices at Cassell Coliseum, its home since the athletics department made the program a varsity sport in 1977. The Merryman Center, a $10.6 million facility next to Cassell, contains 17,000 square feet of strength and conditioning space, and is where the volleyball team conducts most of its strength and conditioning training.

Tech has over 600 wins in the history of the team and has recorded 17 winning seasons under four head coaches. The Hokies have produced three All-Americans in Katie Esbrook (2006), Cara Baarendse (2010, 2011) and three time honoree, Felicia Willoughby (2008, 2009, 2010). Lisa Pikalek is the only Virginia Tech volleyball player to have their number retired. During her career (1989-92) Pikalek set and still holds the school records in kills (2,270), kills per set (4.39), aces (196), block assists (454) and total blocks (552). Ginny Lessman-Stonick joins Pikalek in Virginia Tech's Hall of Fame after helping the Hokies to a 119-70 record from 1980-83. In 1980 the setter helped lead Tech to the AIAW regional championships.
Volleyball PDF Record BookVirginia Tech has had several volleyball student-athletes represent the Hokies following their collegiate days by playing professionally. Currently, former Tech student-athletes Erin Leaser and Jennifer Wiker are playing in Belgium while Justine Record is in France and Kristen Cunningham competes in Germany as part of the European leagues. The Hokies have also had Sarah Munoz (Puerto Rico), Felicia Willoughby (France) and Cheryl Stinson (Spain, Germany, France) compete on the professional level.

The newly renovated Nutrition Oasis acts as a fueling station for athletes to "bookend" their training with pre-exercise and recovery fuel. By upgrading and quadrupling in size, this space offers a smoothie bar, recovery beverages, fresh fruit, nuts, bagels, and Gatorade products, as well as space for nutrition education and food demos.
