C A S S E L L I M P R O V E M E N T S The look of Cassell Coliseum continues to evolve, and during the summer of 2017, the venerable old arena received even more upgrades. Following graduation, workers removed approximately 4,000 of the original seats and replaced them with new, padded, wider seats. These new seats, set closest to courtside, offer fans better comfort, while attending sporting events at Cassell Coliseum. Shortly thereafter, workers refinished and repainted Carilion Clinic Court with bold new images, logos and word marks to better reflect the university and athletics department. Also, workers added the new logo of Carilion Clinic, whose gift two years ago was earmarked, in part, for such projects. The playing surface of Cassell Coliseum is now the “Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum.” Other improvements, not necessarily noticeable to fans, have taken place over the offseason. Most notable, the Bill Foster Basketball Suite received a completely new design and configuration. The team’s game-day locker room was gutted and reconstructed to better utilize the space and serve the team. Along with this renovation, workers constructed a new “green room” to be used in a multitude of ways. @VT_MBBall @vthokiembb VTMBBALL 4
