MBB HOKIES 17-18 | MEDIA GUIDE

F A M I L Y R E U N I O N At the conclusion of his 10th season as a head coach, Buzz Williams undertook a massive project. He wanted everyone involvedwith his first decade as a head coach—players, coaches, managers, everyone—to come to Blacksburg in August of 2017 for a “Family Reunion.” The purpose for having the reunion was to celebrate the revolutionary success Coach Williams has enjoyed over the past decade. Coach Williams served as the host for a team dinner at his home, a function that allowed the players to communicate, learn and have a good time with one another. Coach Williams and his family treated the group to a fun weekend of basketball, fellowship, family meals and even a softball game. People came from near and far to be a part of this grand gesture. Current players mingled with past players. NBA superstars connected with former teammates and new friends. Nearly 100 former players reunited—some teammates, some strangers; all connected by the bond of Coach Williams and reminded they are family for life. The overarching purpose of the weekend was for Coach Williams to say thank you to those who sacrificed for him, from the bottom of the program up, throughout his entire career. The weekend also served as a reminder that, regardless of what city, state or country in which these people live, these people will forever remain important to Coach Williams. @VT_MBBall @vthokiembb VTMBBALL 24
