MBB HOKIES 17-18 | MEDIA GUIDE

The Virginia Tech men’s basketball program enjoys a large presence in the media: locally, regionally and nationally. Both traditional media and new, emerging media focus on the Hokies. Virginia Tech players are in high demand for interviews, and with the constantly evolving platforms, many opportunities exist for additional exposure for the student-athletes. The fans of Hokie Nation always remain thirsty for information on their teams. As a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Hokies enjoy the benefits of one of the best and most comprehensive television and Internet rights packages in the nation. Every Virginia Tech conference basketball game is available over the air and also via the Internet, thus receiving worldwide exposure. The ACC Network, beginning in 2019, will only add to this exposure, as a dedicated, 24-hour over-the-air network and its streaming partner will focus completely on the Atlantic Coast Conference and its member institutions. Virginia Tech players and coaches do hundreds of interviews each season, appearing on all forms of media, including numerous in-house opportunities. The emergence of HokieVision and the prominence of Hokiesports.com provide even more opportunities for Virginia Tech student-athletes. The athletics department also provides opportunities for student-athletes looking for post-graduate careers in the media to learn and hone their skills right here on campus.
